Kamal Hassan to revive Balram Naidu Character
Remember the character Balram Naidu from Kamal Haasan’s 2008 blockbuster Dasavatharam? It’s believed that Kamal will revive the same character in his upcoming Tamil, Telugu and Hindi trilingual project, which will be officially launched in Chennai on Friday. Kamal will return as RAW operative Balram Naidu, and this time the story will focus on his family. While Ramya Krishnan of Baahubali fame will play Kamal’s wife in the film, Shruti Haasan will play their daughter.
“Kamal will play Balram Naidu in his new film. Audiences will be introduced to his family for the first time. It’s an out-and-out comedy flick interspersed with sporadic action sequences. The regular shooting will start from the second week of May,”
Veteran Telugu comedian Brahmanandam will play the character Appa Rao, Kamal’s sidekick, which was played by late choreographer Raghuram in “Dasavatharam”.
National award winning actor Saurabh Shukla will also play a pivotal role in the project, which will mark Kamal’s reunion with Ilayaraja, after a decade. Interestingly, it was Ilayaraja who chose the title for the film’s Tamil version. With most of the pre-production work already completed, the makers plan to start shooting from the second week of May.
